One is the savaging of her reputation by an updated version of the "vast right-wing conspiracy" she accused, with some justification, of smearing her and her husband in the 1990s-including radical conservative donors, fake-news peddlers and Russian hackers and their internet bots, all egged on, wittingly or not, by a Republican candidate who "trafficked in dark conspiracy theories drawn from the pages of supermarket tabloids and the far reaches of the internet". It sunk Clinton and down-ballot Democrats in 2016, and it will sink Democrats up and down the ballot in the midterms as well.
Brianna Keilar, CNN's senior Washington correspondent, noted recently on the network that the criticism of Sanders "speaks to an issue that Hillary Clinton has had, where she struggles sometimes to take responsibility".
Studies by respected think tanks such as Harvard's Shorenstein Center have documented a negative bias against Clinton in ordinary news reporting.
Sanders said she was not sure whether the president was aware of Hill's comments. And this obscured coverage of her policy speeches and core messages. The inevitable consequence is that she had little guilt in his defeat in elections. Yet her attorneys turned over two BlackBerrys to FBI investigators, and the agency identified 13 other mobile devices and five iPads that might have processed classified material. But when Clinton mentions Comey, it is taken as just one more complaint in a litany of "blaming others" for her own mistakes. When it appeared to Moscow that Secretary Clinton was likely to win the election, the Russian influence campaign then focused on undermining her expected presidency... It's usually a one-dimensional narrative. She was too "establishment" in a year when people wanted change.
The everyday experiences of women of all ages, races and identity facets cannot be quantified, but anyone could easily survey the women in their lives to hear of similar situations and interactions.
Disney-owned ESPN did not elaborate on any possible punishment for Hill, and she was on "SportsCenter" as usual on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Interesting that no one criticized the authors for "looking backward" when "Shattered", a book that puts the blame squarely on Clinton and her campaign, was published. The violence erupted at a rally to protest the decision to remove a statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee. He added, "One could speculate that this is his moment for payback". Gender certainly plays a role - but words like "misogyny" and "sexism" require much more precise analysis than I can provide here (I get into it in my book), and without that precision are dull weapons that shut down people's brains.
On Monday night, in a series of exchanges with other Twitter users, Hill said, "Donald Trump is a white supremacist who has largely surrounded himself w/ other white supremacists". Even Clinton's fellow Democrats, from Minnesota Sen. All on the up and up.
In a new interview with The New Yorker about her tell-all memoir "What Happened", Clinton ripped the president, calling him a "danger" to democracy and challenging his ability to lead the country. So if you're sitting on a liberal media idea, now would be an opportune time to pitch it to Hillary Clinton.
Bernie Sanders is a Clinton target. The caricatures, no matter how ill-founded, became nailed into popular consciousness. "We do however have mechanisms in place to ensure that the voices of many do not drown out the voices of a few and we remove customer reviews that violate our Community Guidelines".
